The 411 on the Met Gala of 2012

Ok the 411: Every year, around Spring, the Costume Institute Gala hosts the top annual social event of the year at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. Vogue hosts this most coveted red carpet, well at least in terms of fashion. This event has been around since 1948 (which is when the Institute was founded). Seats to attend this function cost around $150k per person, oh swoon, unless of course you are an invited celeb.

Jan Jones

Now let’s discuss the best fashion statements made at the Met Gala in 2012: I know that the new season of Mad Men is on and Jan Jones is hardly on it. We also know that she was out having her own bundle of joy, but at least we get to see her at the Met Gala. Her yellow Versace is simply stunning. She really did go from Mad Men to X-Men and we are loving it.

Gwinnie

Gwyneth Paltrow knocks it out of the park again (pictured above) and in an ethereal silver Prada number. She just keeps getting better with age. We like GOOP too, check it out, if you want to be a Gwinnie addict like we are at LustList.

KStew

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga … so her … so unique and understated. Probably not the best choice on a fancy red carpet, but we like her, because we never know what we will expect from her. K. Stew was actually voted World’s Best Dressed in 2011, she must be doing something right … to even bestow this honor.

Just loved these dresses as well, maybe you saw them and maybe you didn’t, but LustList had to share our top Vanity Fair picks for 2012!

Elizabeth Banks in Chadwick Bell and Choos

Seriously green, navy, polka dots and feathers ... who can resist?

Kate Beckinsale in Versace and Stark

Can this Brit look any hotter, her hair alone is to die for!

Kate Hudson in Versace also and Brian Atwood

She doesn't even look like she just had a baby ... that red is a stunner.

Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein

That red bralette says it all, go Diane!

White is the new Black … Oscars 2012 Edition

27 Feb

Oscar Fashion blew our minds this year. Even though Hugo and The Artist won most of the awards, which we loved, we had a few favorites of our own such as Bret McKenzie for Best Song and Meryl Streep for Best Actress!

Here are LustList’s Best Dressed 2012 Oscars List (we can’t get enough of the white dresses)!

We weren’t sure if Gwen Paltrow/Martin (or whatever GOOP is calling herself these days) was here to fight Batman or just being crafty. But, we loved Tom Ford’s dress and the white cape (looks like good does triumph over evil). Her statuesque figure goes along with her low key makeup and low brow ponytail.

Did Jennifer Lopez show all her assets or not … was one of the questions of the night. Besides Angelina Jolie’s right leg (who has its own Twitter handle BTW), we were obsessing over this white Zuhair number. We adore her flawless skin and high bun as well. She is right on the 2012 fashion trend, cut outs are all the rage this year!

Last, but not least, Milla Jovovich. Where did she come from? She looked fab in her one shouldered white sequined Saab gown. She may not have won an Academy Award, but all eyes were definitely on her.

A few shout-outs of course, our girl Viola Davis in a green Vera Wang gown, Michelle Williams looking darling in a red peplum fairy tale gown by Louis Vuitton, Natalie Portman dazzles in red also, we heart anything vintage by Christian Dior and polka dotty and of course Rose Byrne, whose black sequined Westwood not only did her justice in the front, but the back also! We are sorry to see the Awards Season go, until 2013!

SAG Awards 2012

31 Jan

Finally, a group of leading ladies not only hit the red carpet, but won best picture at the Screen Actors Guild Awards – The Help!

Here are LustList’s favorite picks, notice they resemble a Christmas theme (green, red and white), but all unique on their own individual merits.

Emily Blunt in a Green Oscar (Runway versus Awards Show)

Michelle Williams in a stunning (yet lacy) Red Valentino

Rose Byrne in a White Couture Saab Jumpsuit (once again Runway versus Awards Show)

Most of the themes last night were Neutrals, Whites, Grays and Marchesa, but I still felt like the numbers above hit a home run! We can’t wait for the Oscars!

GG 2012

16 Jan

Hot hot with beads!

Although I wasn’t completely invested in the Golden Globe awards this year, the fashion was majorrr. Who was your favorite? LustList has gone with Nicole Richie, because she was the most innovative and didn’t go for the princess ballgowns in blush or mermaid blues that all the other celebrities were sporting. Who did she wear? An old fave, Julien Macdonald. Don’t know him?

Here are some cool facts:

- Hails from London

- Worked at Chanel and Givenchy

- Has dressed Beyonce

- You can get his items @: Net-A-Porter

We also want to commend Claire Danes in her J. Mendel dress, she looks fab … front and back!

Stay tuned for a SAG report in a few weeks, xx

Madewell for 2012!

20 Dec

J.Crew who? Made well for 2012 is more like it. The Madewell Spring ’12 collection is the best one so far. Alexa Chung, has really become a fashion icon and an inspiration for the brand.

Although, it is the lower priced version of J.Crew and made for the tomboys who wear dresses, the new collection has some stunners for everyone.

From cheeky prints to adorable green flats, Spring is really here. The chambray shirts to the electric button downs really show an eclectic range.

Look out for this collection soon! Madewell has limited stores, but you can always peruse these items from their online storefront here: Madewell

Madewell is definitely on my Xmas LustList, what is on yours?

Ohne Titel

15 Sep

Although, fall is currently in “season,” we are already looking ahead to Spring Fashion (2012) this week in NYC.

So far the new trends will be neon, athletic chic, whites, polka dots (my personal favorite), geometric and of course crop tops. Who knew?

One collection you may not be so familiar with is Ohne. I loved this tangerine dress below.

The collection was started by Flora Gill and Alexa Adams. They both met at Parsons and bonded over what else, style!? After Alexa spent years at Helmut Lang they reunited forces at Karl Lagerfeld and then began Ohne.

Here are some other pieces from past collections, most of the designs are shaped with soft drapes and are very modern.

You may have seen them win the CDFA from Vogue back in 2009.

Be on the look out for them, as I have a feeling they will continue to take the fashion world by storm. Their sales are soaring and handbags are next for this dream duo! For more product to add to your list and lust after, click here, www.ohnetitel.com.
